Crazy religious freaks

So I come across this website for “missionaries behind bars” and find reports of some woman in prison- the writing is mainly done by her children, or typed in from letters she’s sent. She’s cleaning the kitchen, she’s trying to get into a halfway house and hoping to be released early, except she’s not. She;s PRAYING for early release.  As if God can decide to influence her captors.  Like if she’s godly enough she can go home. I’m reading line after line of endless lame dribble about her prayers and wondering- what the heck did she do?  Of course it says nothing of her crimes on the website, so I had to google “hovind prison” to discover the truth.

Her and her husband were running some kind of bogus creationism cult and didn’t pay taxes. This is America, you can do whatever dumb-ass thing you want, as long as you pay taxes on it, OK. her husband claims to be a Dr but that’s debatable.

I just don’t get why these people cling to religion like this. Why beg God to send you home. Wouldn’t you say “God wants me here?” isn’t denying reality somewhat of a sin?  it should be. I wonder if she says that Satan is the root of her imprisonment?  Because that would be like saying that Satan was more powerful than God. I wonder if they plan to pay their taxes from now on.

Can people get any stupider?

Could you please email me? I’d like to ask you a few questions regarding Homeschooling. I’d like to give you my number, or call you, whichever you prefer. (I too am Atheist, and am finding it difficult to find an organization to belong to.) I’m new to this decision of Homeschooling and have no idea where to start exactly. I have 2 children, one in elementary and one in High School.
    Thank you,
    Sandra

Sandra have you tried the Freedom From Religion Foundation? Your not alone.

As far as being ignorant goes how about a said Able on http://www.threewrongs.com when he believes that global warming is God’s way of making the Earth a tropical paridise.
This is simply someone basing their truths on belief as opposed to basing their beliefs on truth.

I think that a lot of religious organizations use fear, guilt and greed to convince others into believing in their god. Especially Christians. They go as far as using propaganda even. They rather have answers that can’t be questioned as opposed to having questions that can’t be answered. They are in doubt as opposed to being objective. Their god(s) are a manifestation of their pride. They are afraid of truth.

In able for anyone to truely move on in their life, one must face the truth, accept the truth, and respect it. It doesn’t mean you have to like it.

I believe in co-existance and respecting the choices that others make for themselves as long as they respect mine.

From the variety of life springs forth the foutain of diversity which only makes us more distingushed and less insignificant.

Whoa. My favorite line in that letter there was “I believe that he can take a pre-packaged biscuit and turn it into vitamins if He so chooses, and that is what I am asking Him to do!”
    Yeah, totally.
